Selling Your Home - The Basics
1. Educate Yourself
Read some books and articles on home selling, look through the real estate section of your area newspaper and visit some local Open Houses. For additional

Articles
2. Hire an expert
Search out neighborhood real estate agents that are listing experts in your area. Ask friends, neighbors and co-workers for their REALTOR recommendations.
3. Price Your Home Properly
Ask your real estate agent for a Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) comparing your home with those that have recently sold, expired and are currently on the market. Listen
to their opinion of the best list price range for your property.
4. Prepare a marketing plan
Discuss marketing options with your real estate agent and set a plan that includes print advertising, public and agent open houses, social networking and
online advertising.
5. Get your house ready to show
Take a walk through your home With your agent and look at it as a potential buyer might. Make a list of what needs to be done, and decide how much money and
time you are willing to put in to make it show well before opening it up to buyers. De-clutter the home, move some things into storage, put away personal
photographs and give your home a roomier feel. Gather your utility bills, information on local amenities and other information that might interest a
potential buyer.
6. Find an experienced real estate attorney
A good attorney will assist with sale contracts, post-inspection negotiations, title concerns and the closing.
7. Be at the ready
Keep your home clean and ready to show. Take a walk-through before a showing check that everything is in order and looks good . Also, be sure to have a
sign-in sheet so visitors and/or their agents can sign themselves in when seeing your home. This way your real estate agent can followup and gather feedback
about your home.
